Psychonauts explore the mind from the inside. Psychopomps, in the old myths, guide souls across the threshold. The Extended State follows both.
Scientists, facilitators, researchers, seekers, believers, skeptics. The same people, ideas and experiments keep crossing paths. The ecology is small, tangled and increasingly consequential.

Andrew Gallimore
Neurobiologist & pharmacologist · Tokyo
The architect of DMTx.
A Cambridge-trained neurobiologist and author of Death by Astonishment, Gallimore proposed, with psychiatrist Rick Strassman, the pharmacokinetic framework for extending the DMT state. What began as a theoretical protocol went on to human trials at Imperial College London.
There’s a message there, perhaps. Can we decode that message?
There are many highly intelligent entities in this film. But there’s only one online at alieninsect.net.

Paul Hynek
CFO · Code of Reality
Son of Dr. J. Allen Hynek, the astronomer who became synonymous with Project Blue Book and the scientific investigation of UFOs. Paul went through technology, business and academia before arriving, perhaps inevitably, somewhere much stranger.
A Pepperdine professor, entrepreneur, DMT provocateur and CFO of Danny Goler’s research institute, Code of Reality. He is also, by all accounts, an unusually committed host.
I thought the DMT universe remembers me and has notes from our last appointment.
-

David Carter
Co-founder · Code of Reality
Technologist, near-death experiencer and collaborator of Danny Goler. Code of Reality grew around Goler’s laser experiment, the subject of The Discovery.
He works in partnership with Danny to develop futuristic technologies to serve humanity.

Donald Hoffman
Cognitive scientist · UC Irvine
Author of The Case Against Reality. Hoffman has spent decades developing a mathematical theory in which conscious agents, rather than spacetime and physical objects, are fundamental. His work has now intersected in an unexpected way with Gallimore’s.
It’s just bizarre for me to realize that being embodied is the special case.
The interesting question is whether Gallimore’s work might provide a way to turn an extraordinary possibility into something that can actually be tested. Hoffman is also the subject of Heath Cozens’ forthcoming documentary, Beyond Real.

Prof Carl Hayden Smith, aka “Subject Zero”
Noonautics · Museum of Consciousness
Carl Hayden Smith was the first person in the world to sustain all 5 doses of the extended-state DMT protocol at Imperial College London, earning the informal title “Subject Zero”. He brings first-hand experience to his research on consciousness, perception, and context engineering, examining how altered states can translate into lasting changes in everyday life.
He is a director of Noonautics, a nonprofit pursuing DMTx research informed by the work of Andrew Gallimore and Donald Hoffman. His interests include the mechanisms that may regulate endogenous DMT in the brain and body. As founder of the Museum of Consciousness, he explores how sound and carefully designed environments can shape experience. He also leads private permission expeditions to Egypt, connecting encounters with ancient sites to contemporary inquiries into consciousness.
